XiaoLi MaiQi is currently in the final year of her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Music with a specialisation in Classical Performance at LASALLE College of the Arts under the tutelage of Frank DeMeglio. She is experienced in playing different stylistic music period repertoires.

 

In 2012, MaiQi achieved a Diploma grade in Guzheng from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Central Conservatory of Music as her first instrument. She was also the chairperson of the Guzheng Ensemble of Nan Hua High School, where she gained leadership skills while managing the CCA and participating in various competitions and performances. She led her ensemble and participated in Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging and Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

 

For her second instrument, MaiQi completed her ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano performance in 2017 before pursuing her music degree in LASALLE. In the same year, she began teaching piano to young children and adults. She strives to maintain a good rapport with her students and parents. Her approach is to constantly maintain the vitality of music in students while also building a strong foundation of techniques for the future. 

 

MaiQi will perform in the prepared piano section at the LASALLE Piano Voyage: The Water Fantasy 2023. She is also part of the organising committee with 3 other members for the concert, allowing her to hone her collaborative skills and provide her experience in concert planning.

 

Over the years, she has experience in performing music of various genres. She is highly passionate and also wishes to venture into piano collaboration and piano accompaniment to broaden her skills in the music sector.

Fun Facts:

MaiQi is passionate about video post-editing. She is in charge of the series called "Can You Handel This?" as part of the marketing campaign for Piano Voyage 2023. She uses Final Cut Pro and Capcut to do her work.
